Travel Photos – Europe: Luxemburg
Locations visited included Clervaux, Diekirch, Mersch, and the
'Valley of the Seven Castles.'
The highlight of our two-day visit to Clervaux was the wonderful
Grand Hotel du Parc and we think the photos prove it. The hotel
sits in a wooded region overlooking the picturesque town. The
town's twelth-century Château was a battle site during the
Battle of the Bulge of WW II and now houses Edward Steichen's
Family of Man photographic essay. Clervaux also has a
cathedral in town plus the hill-top Abbaye, all of which are
We really hoped to attend an annual beer festival in Diekirch
but, upon arrival, were told that it occured a weekend prior.
Instead, we visited the ancient church dating back to the seventh
and ninth centuries.
Valley of the Eisch River
Belgium was next on our agenda, but we're always trying to make it
interesting and explore as much countryside as possible. So we took
the most leisurely route possible by following guidebook advice
and visiting seven castles while en-route to Belgium:
